Apex Contractors were appointed by our returning Client to undertake the two phased extension of an existing building to provide additional teaching facilities within a live school for pupils with severe learning difficulties.
Both phases were run through term time necessitating continuous liaison with the school to agree measures to maintain segregation and safeguarding for the pupils.
Two new classrooms were built in phase one, with a rendered external envelope construction to match the existing building and extensions to the electrical, mechanical and drainage systems to accommodate the revised arrangement. New ambulant person hoist installations were installed in both classes.
Following a decant between areas and with the new classrooms fully operational, phase two works were undertaken to provide a further new and one extended classroom, plus additional toilet and storage facilities.
Externally a new retaining wall and fencing was installed, along with a replacement sectional garage structure.
Phase two was handed back to the school eight weeks early, allowing them to take occupation one term earlier than anticipated.
