Celebrating Neil Smith at the CIOB Awards 2025!

Last week, we celebrated the achievements of our Senior Project Manager, Neil Smith, who was a Construction Manager of the Year Finalist at the prestigious The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Awards 2025!

Held in London, the hashtagCIOBAwards are renowned for recognising excellence and innovation in the field of construction, celebrating individuals who push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Neil was a finalist in the CMYA Education category for his outstanding delivery of Synergy at Mandeville School. Sadly, he wasn’t named a winner on the night, however to get to the final is fantastic recognition of his work.

Neil delivered both new build and refurbishment works at Mandeville that created new teaching facilities and enabled a one form entry expansion. The new build element of the project is net zero in operation, not only helping client Hertfordshire County Council to meet their environmental goals, but also providing an exceptional learning environment for pupils.

The project had numerous challenges, including a redesign and a change in the form of construction at pre-construction phase, as well as the need to balance delivery and the school’s requirements alongside the teaching calendar.

Neil’s dedication and expertise stand as a shining example of how innovation and embracing change can positively impact learning environments.
